Nurturing Creativity

March 27, 2012

One of the things that I love most about the world of blogging is the inspiration that it brings. I am always amazed at the ways in which the words, images, and passions of others inspires me to live more fully and with greater intention in my daily life.

Renee of FIMBY (Fun In My Backyard) is no exception. I have been reading Renee’s blog  for a long time now, and she has given so much of herself within it’s virtual pages. From soap making to homeschooling advice, living life outdoors to the worlds best recipe for cashew cream (trust me, you want to make this ASAP), there is so much goodness to explore.

Renee has just released her first e-book, Nurturing Creativity: A Guide for Busy Moms, and it was a pleasure to have an opportunity to read it last week. I have strong feelings on what it means to nurture ourselves as women and mothers, and Renee’s work speaks deeply to me as I am navigating some major transitions in my life.

Renee is generously giving away a copy of her e-book today. To enter, simply leave a comment here and we will draw a winner on Friday morning. I hope that you will head on over to Renee’s blog and read more about her new project, as well as explore so many great topics, tutorials, and recipes.

Renee and I have a surprise, as we have chosen not 1, but 7 winners this morning! Congrats to all who won a copy of this beautiful book.

would LOVE this right now. as i type, i am taking a break from stressful grantwriting and legislative advocacy. what has sustained me at night, when i return from work, is doing a bit of something creative—photography, coloring with the kids, blogging or handsewing. it helps to keep me centered and sane and focusing on what is beautiful. and real. this book would be a gift right now!1!

Only in Louisiana ~ documenting the adventures we call Life! March 30, 2012 at 7:42 am

Hi Heather!
Speaking of wonderful books, yours just arrived on my doorstep as I was selected to review it. I was thrilled! I must say…it is absolutely breathtaking and chock full of unique and interesting ideas! I havn’t had time to completely read it from cover to cover but what I have read was amazing and the photography…oh my! I can’t get enough of it! Anyway, I am leaving a link to my blog as I did a quick mini-review as a teaser to a bigger review that will be forth coming. I want to do some of the projects in the book with my children, nieces and nephews ~ in particular…I hope to have the Spring Garden party and dye natural Easter eggs with them as we will have seventeen children staying with us this Easter when all of my family arrives. I can’t think of a better way to review it then that! I have read a lot of party planning books, and craft books in my day…but this one is quite special…Job well done! Also, the letter that came with it was a little vague about where I needed to review the book…I am assuming it is on my blog but please let me know if there is something further I need to do. You can just leave a comment on my blog if so…Thanks and good luck with sales!
PS – anyone reading this comment…you can check out her book (Naturally fun Parties for Kids) on Amazon.com! It is a great book to have for your library. (It is on the sidebar)

Creative ideas always welcome. It looks as if this book has a slight twist by realizing that all moms are busy and yet still need a creative outlet.
