Tending to three children with Rotavirus, two of whom are recovering nicely, and one who is on day 5 of no eating, and is beginning to worry his mama to no end.
Elwood has been hit the hardest with this bug, with Jacob already having had Rota when he was 18 months, and Landon breastfeeding non-stop, they are both coming through much better than my poor Elwood. We are still holding out hope of keeping him out of the hospital, and a huge thank you to Bernadette for her hydration drink recipe. I am not sure where she found this, but even our pediatrician was impressed with it, and encouraged us to keep a cup going for Elwood throughout the day and night.
I am sorry for not posting about the winners of the Alphabet Glue giveaway before now, but they will be at the bottom of the original post by later this afternoon, and the winners emailed. I wish you all a week of health and happiness, and I will look forward to a return next week.
1/3 cup of fresh lemon juice
1/3 cup honey (or to taste)
1/4 tsp sea salt
2 calcium/magneisum tablets, crushed
water to make 4 cups

Heather, I was just thinking of you.. Wishing and praying for for Elwood's improvement.
So sorry to read this, Heather. I have very bad memories of rotavirus, which my little girl had for 2 weeks. Sending warm and healing thoughts your way.
I hope you are all well soon! It's amazing how long these things can stick around.
I am sending you all hugs and hope everyone is well soon! Take care of yourself too mama! Thanks for the hydration drink recipe!
xo,
Ang
I can hear in your writing your heart's ache for your children. Hang in there, I hope your little one starts taking in more nutrition. When my kids have been really sick I have given liquids a tablespoon at the time every 10- 15 minutes to hold them over until they felt better. Hope they get better soon.
Poor sweetie. I hope he starts feeling better soon, and that everyone is up and running in no time.
Oh my. Get well soon. Sick kids is a scary venture. My 3 year old pretty much didn't eat for 6 days last week. Rough road. Hoping all get well soon!
I'm so sorry! Sending warm thoughts from Cairo…
Sending warm healing thoughts to you and your little ones.
OH poor sweet Elwood. Here's wishing him a speedier recovery and I'm sending a big hug to his momma. Be well and I'l keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
Sickness is the suffering part of mothering……love, Beth
If he can manage this, it's worth trying a natural yoghurt drink to help fight the nasty bacteria. I blend ice cubes with plain organic yoghurt and stir in some agave syrup. I start with spoonfuls and increase the amount until they can keep it down. It's certainly not a hydration method, but it's helped my kids get rid of recent winter tummy bugs. Really hoping yours get better soon.
Heather–I am so sorry that even your newborn got this. Our 20 month old just got through it and it was really awful. Thinking of you and your boys. xo
Oh my!
I'll be thinking of you all. Best wishes for a full recovery soon. You all deserve to get out and enjoy this spring!
Thoughts and prayers out to your family, that this passes quickly. I was always so grateful that my nursing babies were receiving such strong immune boosting milk – but the older ones we always worry about. Stomach flues are the worst. My mom gave us bananas when we had the runs (amongst other weird wonderful herbal concoctions – one of the worst in my memories was the slippery elm tea). Healing blessings!
Oh, I'm so sorry to hear all of the kids are sick. Poor Elwood, he looks and sounds miserable. Sending good thoughts your way.
Your poor little man – all of your little men. I know only too well how hard illness can hit – I've got everything crossed for you guys.
take care,
Nina xxx
Best wishes and a "get well soon" to little Elwood from Stuttgart / Germany!
my kids had roto virus when they were young. saying a little prayer for you.
Oh dear, it's so scary to have little ones so poorly. We had our first bout a few weeks ago – I'll definitely keep the hydration drink recipe for next time! I hope your little ones are recovering quickly, with healing wishes and love,
Svenna
I hope the kids ALL recover soon! Did you or your husband get it? It is always awful to be sick and have to tend to the sick! Here is wishing you some relief soon!
Heather, sending prayers for the little Elwood to recover soon! It's always so worrying when our little ones are not well, I know. And for you lots of strength, taking care of ill children (and 3 of them) must be over exhausting! love.
Sending wishes for good health for your little one xxx
oh boy, I hope all three recover quick, especially little Elwood. It breaks my heart to hear of sick kids. (and, knowing what sick kids mean for mamas, I am sending good vibrations to you ,too!)
Many good thoughts heading your way, Dearie. I hope you're able to recover and get some rest yourself soon too!
you poor thing! I was wondering if you have any siblings nearby or inlaws? or are you one of the unlucky ones who is far away and must do all your family's loving? Whatever the case, sending you healing vibes. Caroline xxx
Sending you and your family peace and wellness, mama. This too shall pass…
I'm sending good, healing thoughts your way. Be well. ♥

oh, sweet elwood – sending you many well wishes and hoping you get better very soon! Take care of yourself Heather and tend to your sweet guys – we will be here when everyone is well once again!
Oh hon, I really hope everyone is feeling better! What an ordeal with such a wee one, and I really hope Elwood is out of the woods. Love to you all.
I am lucky enough to have my mom and dad down the street, which is such a blessing. Honestly though, I try to never get them sick if possible, so during moments like these, I am self-imposed on my own

Thank you so much Erin. This really helped Elwood as he was getting towards the stage of wanting something to eat, but not being ready to hold down solid food. I really appreciate the recipe. Have a great weekend!

I am very glad to hear you have your parents close by. Of course I understand not wanting to infect them with anything, especially now your Dad is recovering his own wellbeing. Caroline xx
