While journeying through the mountains yesterday, my oldest asked me “mom, is this our home?” “More than the one with our address on it” I replied.
This is where we live, where we come to when we need a sense of place. This is where we escape to and find comfort in. This is where we play, and where we find magic. This is home. It is pretty easy to clean, has a big backyard, comes with amazing views, has a fantastic sense of community, and is located near all the best schools.
Couldn’t ask for anything more

Just found your blog from your tweet on twitter. Beautiful. I just got back from Colorado, having taken a walk in the forest up in the high country, I felt more connected than anywhere else. Then I saw your beautiful pictures…ahhh. Thank you! Can't wait to explore your blog more!
Lovely post. I like it how you mix in a little humor to keep it real. It's a beautiful home.
Couldn't ask for anything more, right? Love, love, love the pictures… wish I had a place… wait; I do. Thanks for reminding me! 🙂
i love this 🙂
Oh, and I'm so jealous of the snowy carpet your home has! I'm so ready to leap headfirst into the holidays, but it's still so darn warm here….
These are awesome photos!. Where did you go yesterday that there was so much snow and ice?
I know! There was so much, it was crazy. This is the Glacier Gorge trail going to Alberta Falls. We actually had a slow go of the trail for a while because the snow had melted through the morning and early afternoon, and then turned to ice. It was gorgeous though, and a ton of fun to play in!
I also feel more at home in the woods than I do in my house. Why is it I always leave the woods?
Beautiful captures….I think my favorite is the bridge.
Just beautiful!
Beautiful. How amazing the world around us is.
really beautiful photos. I love the one with you reaching down to your son. it is amazing how much peace and comfort can be found exploring the outdoors. we are supposed to have sun and 60s here this weekend…lots of inspiration to get out and play.
oh heather, this post just gave me the chills. It is beyond true. and if we remember that the world around us is home we have a bigger and better respect for it all, don't we?

I am so very jealous of your home. That being said, I do love mine as well!
I went to Denver only once but you're giving me the urge to visit Colorado once again! It is so beautiful and peaceful. I go for a nature walk twice a week and it really helps me relax.
I sometimes dream of living in the woods…as long as I have internet and that Amazon delivers my books ;o)
so peaceful!
gorgeous pictures! I wish Wisconsin had some mountains 🙂
certainly some of the joys of homeschooling!
Wow! What an amazing day! The mountains are beautiful and they are our home! I loved all the pictures..so real. You answered your son so perfectly…I think that is the way we should look at most things in life. The beauty and life around us that was here long before us & will remain long after we are gone. Respect it as our own & it will stay as beautiful as it is today.
Love this is fantastic beautiful. I am loving this intense debate!
Can you say jealous? How wonderful for your boys to be able to explore such beauty~

Hi Heather
I'm back from Savannah and thanks for the message on my blog. I have lots of catching up to do and postings to read, but yours was first. Amazing photographs as always and so true to have the woods, mountains and rivers as your backyard.
thanks for sharing.
Oh, what a home! We frequently find the best moments of happiness and solace in our favorite outdoor places as well.
Very true. When you are free, you are free, and you can see that everything around you is their for you to love and enjoy. What better home could you ask for!? Beautiful post. I love the open innocence that children hold.

Hey love the new comment box. And loved this post! It's so sad that in this day and age so many people forget about the 'home' right outside our doors.
