Friendship and Mail

May 3, 2009

As I know I have mentioned here before, I love getting packages in the mail. I often wonder if the love for what the mailbox can hold comes from the fact that in this day and age, we communicate so much through email, Facebook and Twitter (although I do think that they have a huge amount of benefit to them). Besides hand written thank you notes, and holiday cards, I rarely use the mail system to communicate. Lately I have tried hard to resurrect letters to friends and family, not for any special occasion, but just because it feels good to share some words on paper with pen.

Yesterday, a package, wrapped in pretty pink and purple tissue paper arrived at my door. I saw the Etsy address on the front, and wasn’t sure what was inside, since I hadn’t ordered anything recently. I opened the package up, and read the beautiful card first. “Just because you are a fabulous friend. May this bring more joy to your mornings of light and bliss. Stacy”. Inside was a beautiful hand quilted journal made by Daily Threads. Stacy and I know each other really well, and although I had probably never brought it up in full conversation, she knows how much I love to write in my journal, especially on the weekends. Although we live just a few towns from each other, she had it sent, because she knows how much I love receiving something special in the mail.

So I sit here this morning, coffee in hand, with a brand new journal from a special person, again reminded of all the beauty that we have. Times can get so stressed, so crazy, so hurtful, but in the end, the joy always seems to return. What it reminded me of, more than anything else, was to try and create beauty for those around me. Just a little something to tell someone how special they are, the possibilities to what that can do are endless.

So here is to beauty, friendship, and something special in the mailbox.

Sweetie I am so glad this made it safely! Did you notice that the cover is changeable so you can put a new insert in and have the journal be usable :) Kinda green heehehe

Luv you! You are Fabulous – Never forget that !
