TNNA and Some Yarn

December 15, 2008

It has been a crazy four months since we opened Shivaya Naturals. I have been lucky enough to be able to expand our company in ways that I did not think would be possible, and I am very grateful for all the support that we have been given.

A few weeks back, I was incredibly honored to be asked to create a limited edition collection for Zealana Yarns in New Zealand, and the women of Yarn Sisters, to take to TNNA. We have around 600 skeins of yarn that we are in the process of hand painting, and while this is one of the bigger challenges I have ever taken on, it is also a very special opportunity. At the moment I am painting their Merino Cashmere 12 ply (serious heaven), and all that I can say is that if you are going to be attending TNNA this January, make sure that you check out the Zealana booth.

Our final store update occurred yesterday, and I have to say that I was sad to see the Winter Collection come to an end. Having said that, we will be kicking off our Spring collection beginning January 1st with our cashmere lace yarns. Our cashmere lace sells out quickly, and these are all limited edition color ways. We will do another set of cashmere lace for our Summer and Autumn collections as well.

This coming Spring we are going to be featuring most of our yarns in hand painted colorways. After spending so much time designing the colors for Zealana, I realize that this season I want to explore some handpainted colors for Shivaya as well. We are looking to bring some new lace yarns into the mix, and I am excited to begin to share those with all of you.

Our Taste of Shivaya club will also open January 1st and our first club collection will ship out on February 15th. We will post the sign-up link on our blog during the last week in December.

The holidays are a great time to relax and enjoy your knitting, and I hope that all of you are getting a chance to do so. We have some really neat things coming your way in 2009, and I look forward to being able to share them with all of you.

Tomorrow we will feature an interview with Julie Eppler, one of the designers of Hearts of Gratitude. Julie and her mother have created an amazing collection of jewelry, stitch markers and gratitude hearts, and the energy that they put into their work is remarkable. I hope that you will enjoy learning a bit more about Julie and her work.

Happy Knitting
